According to a recent statement by Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb, we might receive some information about Gears 6 this summer. Grubb mentioned this during Kinda Funny’s Xcast show, stating that he has heard some rumors about the game. Microsoft has already confirmed that it will be hosting an Xbox showcase this summer, where it will present games such as Avowed and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. If Gears 6 is indeed in development, it is likely to be teased during this showcase.

However, Grubb also cautioned that plans could change, as evidenced by the recent leak of FTC documents regarding Xbox’s plans for a mid-generation console refresh. Although Phil Spencer has since stated that those plans were outdated, there are now rumors that Microsoft will be releasing a white all-digital Xbox Series X.

Gears 5 was released in 2019, and there has been little news about the next entry in the series. However, it is reported that Gears 6 is The Coalition’s next game. Former studio boss Rod Fergusson revealed that he wrote the story synopsis for the game before leaving to become general manager of Diablo. However, he also joked that The Coalition probably threw it out, indicating that he is unsure if that was the direction the game ultimately took.
